International Seminar «Developing Research Capacity at higher education institutions of Kazakhstan: Teaching research and supervision of PhD programs»

The National Erasmus+ Office jointly with the Ministry of Education and Sciences of Kazakhstan with the support of the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (ЕАСЕА) of the European Commission will be conducting an international seminar «Developing Research Capacity at higher education institutions of Kazakhstan: Teaching research and supervision of PhD programmes».

The event will take place in Astana (Kazakhstan) on 17-18 May 2017 and will be hosted by the Nazarbayev University..

Ella Ritchie, EU expert, Professor Emerita, Newcastle University UK, will take part in the seminar as well as representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science of the RK, Higher Education Reform Experts (HEREs), PhD students from Kazakhstani universities and PhD students’ supervisors.

Objectives of the seminar: - familiarise with the EU experience in implementing PhD programmes in HEIs and enhance knowledge and skills in the field of research capacity building; - develop recommendations for enhancing research methods instruction and the level of thesis/dissertation supervision in universities of Kazakhstan.

Venue: Graduate School of Education, Nazarbayev University, 53 Kabanbay Batyr Ave, Block 3, room 2001, Astana, Kazakhstan.
